Red White And Blue Ice (Printable)

Patriotic layered ice with blueberries, coconut and strawberries to chill drinks with colorful, summer-ready flair.

# What You'll Need:

→ Fruit

01 - 1/2 cup fresh or frozen blueberries
02 - 1/2 cup strawberries, hulled and chopped
03 - 1/2 cup fresh coconut meat or unsweetened shredded coconut

→ Liquids

04 - 1 cup coconut water
05 - 1 cup natural blueberry juice
06 - 1 cup natural strawberry juice or cranberry juice

# Step-by-step:

01 - Rinse all fruit thoroughly. Hull and chop strawberries, and cut or shred coconut if using fresh.
02 - Fill one-third of each ice cube tray compartment with blueberries. Top with just enough blueberry juice to cover the fruit, then freeze for 1 hour until set.
03 - Place a small amount of coconut meat or a sprinkle of shredded coconut over the frozen blue layer. Pour in coconut water to fill the next third of each compartment. Return tray to freezer for 1 hour, allowing it to firm.
04 - Distribute chopped strawberries atop the coconut layer, then fill compartments to the top with strawberry or cranberry juice. Freeze until entirely solid, about 2 more hours.
05 - Remove fully frozen layered cubes from the tray and add to lemonade, sparkling water, or cocktails before serving.

# Expert Advice:

01 -
  • These cubes make any drink instantly festive and it feels like a secret shortcut to party flair.
  • I love how the layers freeze perfectly and slowly tint your glass with juicy pops of color.
02 -
  • If you rush the freezing in between layers, they’ll blend and lose their stripes—I learned this after a particularly humid day.
  • Straining juices before pouring keeps your ice crystal clear and extra pretty.
03 -
  • Let each layer freeze solid before adding the next to keep stripes crisp and defined.
  • Rinse fruits in very cold water right before freezing, so they stay vivid and don’t bleed.
